About

Grinning Cat was set up by Kevin Carthew and Paul Roberts at the end of 2023. Both had dreamed of setting up their own games studio, and Grinning Cat is the realisation of those dreams.

The pair met whilst working on Worms Revolution at Team17 back in 2012. Over the years they kept in touch, but it wasn't until early 2023 that they decided to give 'going indie' a real go. Coming up with a unique idea, then building a prototype to showcase the core loop of the game, Kev and Paul headed to Develop Conference in Brighton to pitch their idea. The game was subsequently signed to a publisher and Grinning Cat became a reality.

The goal of Grinning Cat is to put the fun back into games development, while ensuring everyone in the team feels valued, and has ownership over their contributions.
